Bora Bora

The first day on Bora Bora saw us making plans for the next day with Maeva Tour operators to go parasailing as soon as we got off the ship's tender at Vaitape, the commercial center of Bora Bora. Connie and George were very excited and looking forward to go parasailing.  Kinan and I, also have never been parasailing before, but we were excited and yes, I'll admit, a little bit scared at first.  But for the first day, we rented a car and did the circle island tour.  Parasailing on Bora Bora was amazing.  With trepidation I got on the parasail, but once up there, what an incredible sight! You could see miles of blue pristine water with the occasional ray floating by on great wings, and the mountains of Bora Bora behind you.  Floating on the breeze, you felt like a bird soaring over the lagoon. Kinan managed to video record himself while up there.
We stopped at several places, the beach at Matira Point where the sand was pure white, the Yacht club, where we had the local brew Hinano, and the world famous "Bloody Mary's" restaurant where I had a great lunch of "poisson cru" (raw fish marinated in lime and coconut juice).  The men's bathroom had a very interesting handle to flush the toilet.
The women's bathroom wasn't nearly that interesting, although it did have fresh hibiscus flowers on a rock waterfall sink.  We finished lunch and then saw the list of famous people, actors, politicians, musicians, etc.. that have visited Bloody Mary's.

A little short walk away from the beach at Matira Point, we came upon "the best" snorkeling on our trip.  No crowds of people, just a few swimmers and fish, fish, fish!  We even saw an octupus, giant clams, eels, and a Picasso trigger fish!  I couldn't get enough of snorkeling there...

After our parasiling and snorkeling adventures we did a little shopping in Vaitape where we bought Creme de Vanilla from a "Super Marche" and browsed for souvenirs and trinkets to remember our island paradise with.
We set sail back to Tahiti a little after sunset.

Across the street we took pictures of Mount Otemanu across the lagoon.  We drove around again to see of we could find the leftover big guns from WWII but we never did find them. Later we found out that they were up in the hills and a short hike was involved.
